What's New With Concord Carpenter?

This week has been pretty busy for me.  My television debut on ABCs Expedition Impossible is nearing its end as we close in on episode 7.   Only three episodes left after that....  How did we do?  You'll have to watch to find out.

One cool thing is that I just submitted an article on building hidden water fountains to the DIY magazine "Extreme How To."   Tthey liked it alot and are hoping to use it in an upcoming edition.

I'm starting to get alot of inquiries on my Ask Concord Carpenter tab, located on top of my website navigation bar.  I promise to answer each ad ever question.

Keep them coming!!!

SawStop = Stop All Saws!

SawStop Technology a TableSaw Monopoly?

Our government is considering a petition by patent attorney Stephen Gass. Gass's petition could mandate a design standard that has the potential to eliminate portable benchtop saws from the market due to the cost of compliance.

Mr. Gass, who owns SawStop is petitioning the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to create standards in an effort to require a specific technology for all table saws, providing a de facto mandate for the use of technology developed by SawStop.

Mr. Gass has represented that SawStop's patent web would give it a monopoly if the CPSC were to adopt the standard requested in SawStop's petition. Granting the petition would generate millions of dollars for SawStop, but hurt consumers, undermine the development of new table saw safety technology and possibly eliminate portable benchtop saws from the market.

    My daughter recently asked me to painit her room purple.  Yes I said purple... I know, really?

    Past of the wall preparation involved removing an old shelf that used plastic wall anchors.

    I hate removing these achors because they leave a huge gaping hole that usually takes teo attemps to fill with plaster patch.

    Instead of pulling out the anchor I use a phillips head screwdriver and push them in so they are slighty recessed.  This way a light coat of spackle fills and covers the offending hole.  the end result is less time on task and faster drying time for the patch.
